Camping at Ainsworth State Park in Oregon
Ainsworth State Park is a great place to spend a night or two while enjoying your waterfall hikes in the area or kite boarding on the Columbia. The shady campground sits along the Historic Columbia River Highway and is just minutes from I-84.

The Campground
The campground is at the east end of the popular Waterfall Corridor. It’s not real big, but it’s lovely with all the trees and greenery. It’s backed up to some spectacular rock cliffs, with some areas affected by the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire.

Go For a Hike
Gorge 400 Trail: From the west end of the campground, you can hop on the Gorge 400 Trail. This trail connects to many of the other trails in the area, so there are many options for a great day hike. Following the trail will take you to Angel’s Rest Trailhead near Bridal Veil Falls.
Gorge Area Parking Permits
- Where Oregon State Park day-use parking permits are required, your Ainsworth State Park camping receipt is valid for the days you are registered at the park.
- Some Forest Service sites (including the Eagle Creek Rec area and Bridge of the Gods Trailhead) require a NW Forest Pass. America the Beautiful passes are valid.
- Parking at Multnomah Falls is free, but may require a timed use permit.
